Frequently asked questions
These answers provide general information. Suitability, funding and clinical arrangements are confirmed individually. New clients begin with an enquiry and suitability review; an appointment is offered only after acceptance.

Eden provides individual psychological therapy for children aged 8 and older, adolescents and adults. The service is not crisis care and does not provide formal autism, ADHD or cognitive assessment; couples or family therapy; or forensic and independent medico-legal assessment.
-
No referral is required for a private appointment. For a Medicare claim, the client needs an eligible underlying pathway and a valid written referral. The Mental Health Treatment Plan itself is not the referral, and a copy normally need not be sent to Eden. Matthew must receive the referral before the first Medicare consultation; Eden asks that it be provided at least two business days before a tentatively held appointment. See GP information & Medicare referrals for details.
-
Yes. A young person may make an enquiry, and a parent or guardian may also enquire on their behalf. Matthew considers guardian authority, the young person’s views, capacity and confidentiality case by case. Contact 0494 817 870 or referrals@edenpsych.com.au for general information; do not send detailed sensitive information by ordinary email. An appointment is offered only after suitability review and acceptance.

A standard private appointment is $225 for 50 minutes. A $112.50 deposit is required for a new initial appointment and is credited against the $225 fee. The remaining $112.50 is charged normally when the appointment proceeds. A Medicare rebate may be available for an eligible appointment with a valid written referral and eligible Medicare pathway. The rebate depends on current rates and eligibility; it is not guaranteed.
-
Eden Psychological Services is currently offering telehealth appointments only for suitable clients located throughout Victoria. Telehealth is generally considered from around age 12; suitability, privacy and safety are assessed individually. New clients first send an enquiry. Matthew reviews suitability and capacity before offering an appointment.

Please give at least two business days’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. If less notice is given, or you do not attend, a cancellation fee may apply as set out in your service agreement. Cancellation fees are not eligible for a Medicare rebate. To cancel or reschedule, contact Eden by phone or email as soon as possible. If you leave a voicemail, notice is recorded when the message is received. Any relevant funding requirements will be discussed before services begin.
